Pledge

It never ceases to amaze me how selfish... or rather ignorant a person can be. Maybe they aren't doing this intentionally, however I'm finding the more people I meet now, are exactly like this. It's never about anyone else but themselves.
And I'm not talking strictly in the sense of everything this person thinks about is what they want and how they are going to get it or get someone else to do it for them. No see, that's just basic ignorance. We all are faced with this. This lack of knowing about other peoples wants or needs because they are so consumed with their own ideas.
There are special people in this world who take the ribbon for being selfish beyond description. This selfishness is thinking that you will always be the best and will never be anything less than that. Selfishness is believing that your values and ideals are the ones that should be valued in all others. Selfishness is forgetting the joy in discovering new people and their lives. Selfishness is the idea that there is nothing left in the world in the world to know because well.... you already know it all.
Quite frankly this doesn't anger me but, rather upsets me that there are still people in this world like that. Still people who are so young, believe they don't need to experience anything more than what they already have and waste their lives pointlessly judging people and crudely commenting towards them because they have experienced everything the world has to offer.
This is wrong.
It's not fair and wrong. There is so much good in people yet, our society creates this stigma that we can find wrong in just about anyone.
A person's actions does not dictate who they are, it is their beliefs, morals, ideals, and personality that makes them the person they are. Some people display a different person when they first meet someone new, while others are open books. However, for those who's cover is different from their content there is no reason to judge.
Yes I understand if you don't like me, then don't take me. But, there are those who are selfish enough to make it heard why they don't.
The drugs a person takes, the alcohol they consume, the time they spend on particular subjects instead of others is not a reason to think they are bad people.
To judge a person on the way they present themselves is wrong.
To judge a person at all is wrong.
There is no reason for it.
There is always more to a person to know. Maybe stopping for a minute and listening to what they are going to say, you might discover something new about them that would impress you.... or rather open you eyes to the potential so many human beings in this world hold!
Sometimes constantly pledging your beliefs in the presence of new people creates that negative persona on the other person due to their unsureness of yourself. That doesn't mean you are in the wrong, and it doesn't mean the other person is wrong either. It's a large circle of just negative judgment and selfishness.
So it's time to take a pledge. A pledge that there is no longer any room for selfishness, just the occasional ignorance! It's time to take people for who they really are and realize they are this way because they just are.... and there is nothing wrong in that.
It's time to just be you!
It's time to stop trying to impress people!
It's time to realize everyone is an individual and thats what makes us so special!
It's time to STOP be so SELFISH!!!!
